Hello & Happy Easter!! 🐣
This is my first official post here, and I'm very excited to start this journey! I wanted to start off this blog with some community engagement, so I put together a brief survey.
I asked Perth's Under 18's local music community the question, "Why is Local Music Important?" and here are the answers!
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Seeing and hearing local music (live and in streaming services) makes me feel really inspired as a young musician, it shows you dont have to be born in a big american city to go out and make music that helps others. Also when music mentions my city/area it makes people feel really seen, and there are lyrics you can directly relate to which is really wholesome. Hyperfest was a great experience to see a bunch of local music and bands perform to a broader audience." - Alicja
"Local music is important to me because you get a feeling of not only self connection but a connection with the people around you that share similar if not the same feelings and experiences as you. Local music should be something that everyone gets to experience at some point in their life but I along with other under 18s have had the blessing to be able to experience the magic of it at such a young age. all in all local music ROCKS!" - Clara Catalano
"Local music is important to me because, with all of the falsified, unreliable and inauthentic aspects of the world, online and in real life today, seeing something live and in person surrounded by others all sharing this common interest is a uniquely human experience and a rarity in today’s world." - Sadie
"i love music i always have since i was a kid i was raised around it but where i’m from we don’t really have local music, going to gigs and being in the scene is so important for young people, being able to meet people who like the same music as you is so special and music connects people. the scene saved my life and i’m so grateful every day for it. keep it going!!! punk won’t be dead!!" - Jaxon
"I think it's one of the best and one of the most needed communities in WA, or any place/city. I've met so many people, and have been able to support so many artists. Gigs and shows are just such a fun experience regardless of if you know anyone or not. Listen local freaks! It's important to me because it's something I will always want to support and fight for, since it has lifted me up so much and been such a wonderful community to be apart of." - Lucy
"Because I have group and community where I can share my thoughts about music and we all have a common ground in that we all love local music from all genres." - Raije that guy from regression

Thank you to everyone who completed the survey and shared their message & thank you for reading!
Updates from this blog will hopefully be relatively regular for the school holidays, and then probably shift to being bi-weekly (depending on how much time I have).
